Red-Tailed Hawk
This juvenile red-tailed hawk graced my day with their presence on a beautiful winter afternoon at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area.

A lovely Bird Walk with Robin Roberts found this happy American Robin singing his beautiful spring song.
When April comes, I need to see poppies. So I headed for Wilson Valley Road. Nothing like the spectacular Super Bloom a couple of years ago, but there's always something magical to be discovered in nature. I found a few poppies, and discovered this pair of bees when I downloaded the day's photos. There's hope for the future.

What an amazing day at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area! A kind birder with a long lens invited me to tag along to the Great Horned Owl Tree. I got a shot of Mom, but didn't see Dad until I lightened the shadows in my shot. What an unexpected blessing! And I'm meeting so many other birds that are new to me. Another great day! Another amazing day. The meadowlarks are pairing up, the trees are singing with blackbirds, and I communed with a vulture. What a day! The Tree Swallows are back for summer breeding season and they're gracing the skies with their aerobatic flights as they feed. And they're checking out tree cavities for their nurseries. All is right with the world.
What an amazing day! Thanks to the deciduous trees, it's easy to spot hawks and other raptors just hanging out in the trees. They are very patient, up to a point. And it's wonderful to get lucky with some unexpected shots!
